At the beginning of the karaoke party the Song Lists are placed around the room or on the karaoke desk, depending on the layout of the event. There will be pencils and Song Request Slips at the Karaoke Desk for the guests use. After singing the first song the Host will encourage the guests to participate. The karaoke commences with the Host singing an upbeat song to set the mood and test the equipment settings. They will walk around the room, space permitting, while singing and encouraging guests to join in while also checking the music volume around the room. Any sound issues can then be rectified prior to the guests singing. You have complete freedom in scheduling your event. Our Karaoke Hire Service will work to your run sheet. Speeches, ceremonies or any impromptu moments can be inserted at your request. However we do follow a default procedure that has been acid tested over years of karaoke parties.
It is important that the Host knows who the event client contact is so the karaoke party can run smoothly. The Host will be getting requests and instructions from guests all through the night. Most of these can be accommodated on the spot. However instructions that affect scheduling or the management of the karaoke show need to to come from one designated person to avoid conflicting instructions.
Karaoke Set Up
Arrangement may vary based on the room shape.
Depending on circumstances the guests can either ask for a song or if it is busy, or too loud for the Host to hear clearly, they will ask guests to use the Song Request Slips provided. Participants will then be enthusiastically called up for their turn to perform and introduced to the audience. After they have finished their song the Host will congratulate and thank them for their performance before calling up the next singer.
While guests are singing the Host will equalize their voice and adjust audio effects like reverb so they sound their best. Guests can also request the Host sing duets with them. If a singer is having trouble keeping up with the words the host will sing along to help them with timing and provide encouragement. Guests will also be instructed, as the need arises, on how to use and hold a microphone. In all the excitement it’s not uncommon for people to forget to point it at their mouth. However as much as possible your Host will make sure participants have the spotlight. Our Karaoke Hire Hosts will encourage audience participation. Their focus is on everybody enjoying themselves.
In the situation where guests are apprehensive to start singing the Host will sing tried and tested songs that put people in the mood. The Host that comes with our Karaoke Hire service, will offer a microphone to guest who look like they are in the mood. And encourage them to take over. Once guests have had a chance to peruse the Song List and have a few drinks, they usually start singing fairly quickly. Once people realise it’s all about fun and that talent has nothing to do with it, they get right into it.

Karaoke in Sydney is run in much the same way as the rest of the world. There are however some local peculiarities that need to be accounted for. This Wiki will outline terms, procedures and customs that are common for karaoke in Sydney. Many of these are globally accepted. The key factor that someone new to singing in public in pubs and clubs is supporting the venue. It is not looked well upon if you turn up and don’t make a night of it. That generally means stay for several hours to listen to other performers and spending money at the venue. Many karaoke operators simply won’t give you a song if you just turn up to sing a song and don’t buy a few drinks or have dinner at the place you are singing karaoke in Sydney.
The second major factor is not to criticises performers. Most people who are new to karaoke are not particularly good singers. They simply want the rush that singing in front of a crowd gives them. The only justification they need for getting up and having a go is that they are a patron of the venue. And by patron I mean paying patron. Karaoke is popular as a group experience. That doesn’t mean that people get up and sing as a group, not that there is anything wrong with that. I’m talking about attending the karaoke in Sydney as a group and having a laugh with or at your friends. Warm hearted heckling is fine, as long as you are friends with the person you are heckling. If the performer does not know you they may take offense at your light hearted jibes. A persons level of talent makes no difference at karaoke. An excellent performer should not expect to have preferential treatment.
The following are terms and customs used for karaoke in Sydney:
Singer Rotation: The order in which performers are called up to sing. The Karaoke Sydney Method is the commonly used Singer Rotation used here in Sydney. As the name suggests.
Karaoke DJ / Karaoke Host: The Master of Ceremonies at a karaoke show. This person typically introduces new singers and manages the singer rotation. In most instances they will also manage the required equipment at karaoke in Sydney.
Song Request Slip: Used to request a song to sing. It is usually a slip of paper that the participant writes their name, the song they want to sing and the name of the artist who sang that song. There is an etiquette that can be followed if the performer wants to give more information to the Karaoke Host. This slip should be submitted to the Host so that a performer can join the Singer Rotation.
Wildcard: The karaoke Host has the power to put any singer up to sing at any time, regardless of their place in the Singer Rotation. When the Host does this it is called a Wildcard. There are many reasons why a Karaoke Host may do this. It is highly offensive to the ancient Karaoke Spirits to question the Hosts decision in doing so.
Bumped up/down: To change a performers place in the singer rotation forward so they sing earlier, or backwards so they sing later.
Regular: A performer who regularly attends karaoke at a particular venue and supports the venue in the ways mentioned above.
Ronin: A Masterless Samurai Warrior of the Japanese feudal period. Not really karaoke related but kind of cool.

Now you can share your experiences with friends through your social network or on CD. Karaoke Party Hire performances are captured on video, with the sound recorded directly from the audio mixer. You will sound exactly as you did at the show. Infinitely better than video recording it on a smart phone, or hand held video recorder.
Videos are saved as.wmv (Windows Media Video) which can be uploaded to Youtube, Facebook or any other social media site you’d like too. And you will receive them directly after the event. There’s no waiting.
We can also post videos on our Youtube Channel. There are over 4,000 Hosted karaoke party videos from shows we have hosted here sorted by date and venue. For privacy and ambiguity videos are labeled in order of performance rather than the singers name. For example: Orient hotel Song 1. This means that they won’t show up in search engine results and be seen by people you don’t want seeing them. Only the singer and their friends will know where to find them. They choose who to share them with through social media.
